experimenting with starting in the fish water on lava rock and in home-made news paper starter cups. Some of the seeds in the lava rock are just scattered on top the rock, some are in news paper and some are in paper towels. We are trying to see which way works better if at all.

 .99 cent store Zucchini.

Romaine lettuce from the grocery store. Ate it and stuck the end in the garden and it's growing.

  1. So I may have posted this already. Can you grow green peppers there? Is it hard? Ryan loves them and it'd save us a ton if I grew them lol

    1. I grow green peppers and it's pretty easy. I have all different colors of them and I'm starting some hot ones now too. I can send you some seeds to start in the spring if you want. They need full sun and tomato cages work really well for them to not fall over. Better than on tomatoes. lol. They are kind of woody and you can cut them down to the ground and cover over the winter and they should come back. I don't know how well that would work where you are but if you save your seeds from the first and or best one every year you can keep growing them for free. I love them too. Joe doesn't. lol. You can mound up some dirt ontop some cardboard in the spring and just barely cover the seeds on top. Keep moist until they get their 3rd or 4th leaves and then just every once in awhile. More when it's really hot. you don't want to over water them. I have that problem. lol.

    2. Idk how to save seeds lol. Sounds easy enough though. I'm going to try to grow some strawberries too I think. Send me what you posted in an email so it's easier to find. lol

  2. I only have problems with saving tomato seeds, been using a fermenting process on them. But bell peppers are pretty easy as the seeds just pull right out. I dry them on news paper in a dry place. The store the dry ones in an old envelope. They can be kept up to 3 years but I wouldn't keep them that long.

I actually saved some strawberry seeds this year. They are also pretty easy. But to start out I would say buy some already started, just make sure they are organic. (Not sprayed with anything). I thought you grew some already? :)
